Orange Tide

Honestly, this is probably the most awe-inspiring light I have ever seen. The vibrant orange color that took over the sky was incredible. 

Smooth Waters

A long-exposure of a gloomy day in Pacifica. The sun was barely breaking through the clouds creating just enough light and interest for this shot.

The Pismo Pier soaking up the last light of the day.

A spectacular sunset from Shell Beach. The forecast was blue skies, but we had some clouds forming late in the day so I visited a favorite location of mine, and was treated to an unexpected explosion of color. 

Enchanting Sands

An extremely vibrant sunset from Pismo Beach. My favorite part of this photo is the reflected light off the sand in the foreground. 

First Light

Powerful waves smashed against the rocks as the sun rose in Monterey, CA. One of the few places you can catch a sunrise over the ocean in California. 

Splendor

An unforgettable evening at Garrapata State Park as large waves battered the rocky shoreline. The swells were huge this day.

Glow of Pismo

A soft and serene sunset from Shell Beach, CA.  This is a 30-second exposure to help soften and blur the water.

The Dragon's Lair

Turqouise waves smashed ashore as the sun rose in Monterey, CA.  The rock formation makes me think of a curled up dragon. 

Aquamarine

A classic shot from the Chimney Rock trailhead in Point Reyes, CA. If you look closley you can see elephant seals on the shore below. 

Pismo Beach Stunner

An especially peaceful night in Pismo Beach, CA.  I loved the golden glow as the sun set behind this large sea stack. 

Beachside Burner

The sky exploded in color as I wandered Pismo Beach during low tide. One of the more intensely colorful sunsets I've captured. 

Guiding Light

Gorgeous light burst through the clouds just before sunset. I love the reflected orange and blue light on the foreground. Taken from Shell Beach.

Storm's End

A cold, windy and rainy day in San Francisico. Snapped from the beach at Sutro Baths. The water was ice cold, my feet were killing me while taking this shot.

An unforgettable sunset as waves smashed against the rocks of a hidden cave in Pismo Beach, CA.

Storm clouds lit up with the last light from Pismo Beach. The seaweed washed ashore made for a perfect leading line.

Pathway

The tide was extremely low so I traversed the rarely revealed rocky layer as I searched for new compositions. This beach changes so much with the tides - it's always a fun challenge finding something new. 

Morning Mist

There was lovely soft light this morning as a thin layer of mist sat over the shoreline. 

Band of Light

A well-known spot for California photographers - this beach features one of the coolest sea stacks I have ever seen. You can't tell from the photo, but the sea stacks are huge. 

Red Tide

Beautiful light shimmering on the sands of Pacifica.  

Sea Layers

I love how these layers of shoreline look almost like a vast mountian range. Taken from the shores of Monterey, CA. 

Low Tide

My favorite local beach. The low tide and low sand levles this time of year revealed a rocky underlayer which is often covered. Shot from Shell Beach, CA. 

Serenity

I rarely photograph mid-day but the large clouds helped create a soft glow. I love this scene and this location. One of my favorite stretches of the California Coast - Garrapata State Park. 

Take Two

This was my second take of photographing this scene. The sunset the previous eveing was a bust, but I was able to find this compostion and vowed to come back when the light was better. Lucky enough, the next evening panned out. 

Pismo Night

A storm passing through Pismo Beach brought some unique cloud formations. The light got even better as the sun set, however I like the colors and textures of this shot best. 

Cotton Candy Skies

The clouds turned pink and purple post-sunset. Definiely a unique color palette and not one you see often at sunset.

Shark Fin

The famous Shark Fin Cove. I loved the atmosphere created by the incoming fog.  

Fly Over

A seagull soaring over the ocean as waves smashed the cliffs. I love the small details in this photo - the sea cave, the birds perched on the cliffs, the light highlighting the splash of the wave. 

Appreciation

Sunset at Pismo Beach, CA. The atmosphere this evening was amazing. I imagine the people on the Pier were taking it all in, appreciating the beauty of a sunset over the Pacific.

Shimmering Tides

A simple sunset from the shores of Shell Beach, CA.  At the time I didn't realize how unique these conditions were, but the sand levels change so much that I haven't seen the beach like this in years.

Radiant

A warm and peaceful evening at Pismo Beach, CA. There was a thick layer of condesation which created a great atmosphere for photos. One of my recent favorites.   

Beacon

An unforgettable moment as fog enveloped Pigeon Point Lighthouse. This particular shot reminds me of a dream with the fog blurring the detail of the lighthouse.
